Session One Highlights! Comprehensive Community Planning Training Program

(Building Sustainable Communities) Permanent link

On September 17, 2007 our group of community planners met for the first time at CIER’s office in Winnipeg.  We are a group of 8 people: one each from 6 First Nations and two from CIER, 4 women and 4 men.  The week was productive and fun and was the beginning of our network on CCP and of new friendships.

During this planning process we will be sharing our experience on this webpage so that other First Nations involved, or interested, in planning can learn more about what we are doing.  CIER will also share information on key training topics and materials.

Over the course of the week we talked about beginning our comprehensive community plan, the planning process, sustainability and using this as a framework for planning, community vision, planning catalysts, gathering background information, and setting up a planning team.  CIER gave presentations on these topics and facilitated small and large group work and activities, including different techniques to use that can help to get the community involved in planning.  Everyone shared their own experiences in these areas, including information on what has worked well in their First Nation.
